This is my story; this is about me and who I am and what I’ve done and where I’ve been. I am not going to tell all, but if I want your vote some day you should want to learn about my background. Actually you should try to get the background of anyone you vote for.
I am not a wealthy man yet. Back in the 60’s and 70’ I was on the south side of Chicago in the Mount Greenwood/Beverly neighborhoods. I was raised, and still am Irish Catholic. I remember the Kennedy’s, Martin Luther, and Mayor Daley. I remember Nixon talking on the T.V. about the Viet-Nam draft. I remember the Psychedelic 70’s, the Cubs line-up and disco music. This neighborhood fueled the Chicago Irish Political machine. My dad worked for the City of Chicago and the C.T.A. He eventually lived and died in the State of Florida. I lived with him through 5th, 6th and 7th grade in Titusville Florida. During this time I played organized football for the first time and began a hobby of fishing.
My Mom is my hero. Ma was my main parent and I learned a lot from her. Mom hosted her own radio show that dealt with busting the Iron curtain and communism back in those days. She broadcast from the top of the Oak Park Arms and was a popular talk radio host. Mom is currently a newspaper columnist for The Chicago Catholic. Mom was in charge of raising 6 kids aged 12 to new born. A very heroic person.
I have lived in Florida, Alpine Wyoming, Buford Foundation, Villanova Pa, Villanova University(1981) and Illinois for the vast of my life. I learned the skill of carpentry and the outdoors in the Tetons of Wyoming. I spent my St. Rita high school summers in the wilds of the mountains out west. I honed my fishing skills in the cold-water mountain streams and enjoyed Gods splendor.
As a high School Sophomore,(1978-79) I made the varsity football team. That year our team won the State Championship and was rated 2nd best Football team in the Nation. Second only to Mohler of Cincinnati OH.
David first ran for president of Mount greenwood Chicago Public School in 1977 (or so). He finished as the impeach Vice-President. His mom said it had to do with the title of "Vice", he said it had to do with "Mad Dog". The truth may never be told. Dave is the youngest of six children, born and raised on Chicago's Southside, he played sports and dreamt a CUBS dream of glory in the friendly confines. Dave has not missed an opening day at Wrigley while living in the area.
Dave was the terror of his neighborhood and beyond. He has had that mindset since birth. Dave tends to be the Dominant one. He continues to pursue the good thing even when playing a smaller role in the whole picture. So far he has one major accomplishment under his belt, creating a public bus system for S.I.U. and the City of Carbondale in August 1995. In Feb 1996 I finally moved back to Chicagoland.
Glen PoshardWon the Primary for Governor in 1998, the day after my dad died, and the politics continues to live on. I worked almost every election Glen Poshard ever ran in. Thus began my political career where I am today.
The politicos of Cook County and Rosemont have not seen my kind in a long time. I have been active in local and state politics since about the age of 6 when I began to walk with the precinct captain.
David has completed all his Graduate School studies toward his Masters Degree in Public Administration. David currently works as the Youth Services Coordinator for Leyden Township and is making things happen right now.
Dave has 3 sisters, Joan Zabelks, Jean Duplex, Donna Steffey, and two Brothers, Bill and Bob. Dave has 7 nephews and 3 nieces. My mom still lives on the south side.
Dave is 40 years old, and has neither been married or fathered children yet. But is ready, willing, and qualified!
